Neurosequential Model of Therapeutics™
What is the Neurosequential Model of Therapeutics?
The Neurosequential Model of Therapeutics is a type of assessment and approach used to provide a better understanding of an individuals' current functioning and needs based on experiences throughout their lifetime and the time they occurred. The NMT provides individuals, families, and service providers with a current brain map, and a trauma-sensitive treatment plan to help individuals develop the skills they need to be more successful in their day to day lives.
What does the process look like?
An NMT assessment package involves a free initial 15 minute appointment to get a brief understanding of needs and expectations. This is followed by a 2 hour intake appointment gathering a snapshot of the individuals life experiences and relationships, and an additional appointment to get an understanding of current strengths and needs using a bottom-up brain development approach. The clinician then develops treatment recommendations based on the NMT metric, that are then shared in a follow-up meeting with loved ones, professionals, and educators involved in the individuals life. The assessment and recommendations take about 8-10 hours in total, in collaboration with the individual and family.
